We are an international, Malta-based company looking for a qualified Backend PHP Developer to join our team in the Belgrade office. SiGMA World is a legal entity of Foxpom d.o.o.
The winning candidate will be responsible for managing our websites’ backend services and functionality as well as the seamless interchange of data between the server and our users. Your duties will include coding and developing server-side logic, ensuring responsiveness to frontend requests, maintaining the central database and liaising with frontend developers.
A basic understanding of frontend technologies is desirable because the chosen candidate will also be in charge of integrating frontend elements into the web-based application.
In-depth knowledge of PHP programming and technologies such as JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS3 is mandatory.
Responsibilities:
- Writing backend code and developing efficient, reusable and testable PHP modules
- Integrating user-facing elements developed by frontend developers
- Developing backend portals with a well-optimized database
- Finalizing backend features and testing web applications
- Troubleshooting and fixing code issues
- Updating and adjusting backend features to optimize performance
- Ensuring smooth operations of web processes and infrastructure
- Responding to integration requests from frontend developers
- Working closely with our IT departments to complete projects
Requirements:
- 4+ years of extensive knowledge of server-side web development and common patterns (PHP framework preferred)
- Experience with Agile is a strong asset
- Experience developing and working with Web Services (React, jQuery, REST preferred)
- Strong knowledge of Relational Databases (SQL Server preferred)
- Strong hands-on experience with web technologies, web standards & protocols
- Experience using a source control management system is desirable (Git preferred)
- Cloud experience (GCP preferred) is desired but not required
- Exhibited skills writing unit tests
- Experience deriving technical requirements from non-technical sources
- An aptitude and willingness to learn new technology quickly and adapt to technology changes
- An aptitude to deeply understand business processes
- Experience integrating with third-party APIs
- Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at one time to meet deadlines
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Some frontend skills are optional: CSS3, HTML5, Javascript, AngularJS, Bootstrap, RxJS, React.JS, Knockout, or Redux.
